My faithful companion, Budo and I, took to the hills, with the camera, to take some fall foliage photos; but somewhere along the way we got separated.
I walked on for an hour, or so, then headed home.

When I returned to the house, their he was, looking contrite, but also, with a look in his eyes that asked, "where have you been"?

He can always make me laugh, when nothing else will, Fred

Fred, there ain't nothing on God's green earth better than a good dog. They still love you no matter how stupid you might act. A good dog will be by your side during the good times and the bad. All they want in return is a pat on the head and a little belly rub from time to time.

I have four wonderful dogs.... two goofy boxers, and two laid back Shitzus. They are my friends, and are always there for me when no one else seems to care.

Beautiful dog and great scenery you have there.

P.S. ........... Stay away from Political...... You can't argue with a brain-dead brick wall.:D

Hope to see you again soon........ Robert

No deer yet? Looks like a nice walk with a good buddy. I just came from playing fetch with my dog. He will chase a ball until he about passes out:D This picture was taken the other night.

Fred,
Everytime you post these types of photos, I get homesick. I grew up in NE Ohio (Massillon) and our family had a cottage down at Seneca Lake (just southeast of Cambridge). My younger brother still lives in Zanesville. I really miss it sometimes, but right now, I miss it a lot.

Thanks for the memories. Your photos put a smile on my face today!!

Absolutely beautiful pictures, I can see you had a interesting walk in the wilderness. Great Photo's Fred, thanks for showing them to all of us. :D

Still meatless. Give me call, lets get together before the ice comes.

Seneca Lake is beautiful. We used to rent house boats for a day, and cruise the lake and drink cold ones and fish a bit. Made for a nice lazy day.
Stop by if you get this far south, Fred

Beautiful views.... Budo looks like he has some questions to ask you. :D
He is not exceptionally smart:) but he has the greatest personalty of any dog I have had.

Great pics Fred, and I really envy your opportunity and willingness to just go for a walk in the woods. I haven't done that for years, and my soul is a bit harder for it. I don't think I'd take our Lucy though - she's not smart enough to find her way back when she ran off chasing some interesting smell! :D

I always enjoy people's descriptions and pictures of their dogs. I'm not all that partial to cats, though one lives here, but Lucy is so much a part of our life it would be very strange without her. She's rather unique. :)

She appears to be a lab mastiff mix, with the huge snout. Is she?

You can see that she has a lot of character.

Fred

:D "Character" isn't exactly the word I'd use; "wingnut" would be more accurate. :D She half Lab, half Shar Pei. A face only a mother could love. This morning petting her with one hand wasn't sufficient - she had to have both hands...

My 15yo daughter said Lucy was the ugliest pig she'd ever seen.... I pointed out she was a dog. I was thinking lab/mastiff mix also. The best dogs are usually weird looking and mixed. :D

That is sooo right.

Budo is lab/shep mix and as you can see in the photo, he has one lab ear
[turned downward] and one shepherd ear that [stands up]

When he runs and those ears start twirling around on his head you can't help it, you have to laugh.:D

You're right! I hadn't caught that! I sure wish I could meet him. (You too of course, Fred!)

Where would we be without our dogs? I don't know what it is, but somehow dogs and people just work well together. I mean, we can use the same furniture and everything.

Will, we laugh about Lucy's ugliness all the time. I tell her she has a head you could split wood with. You should have seen her when she was a puppy; you could hardly tell her shape for all the skin about her big fat head. People stop us on the street and ask what the hell she is? They often try to find a polite way to mention her unique look... We just say, "Yeah, you should have seen her when she was a puppy." Some of them of course, did, and they remember that too. I think it's the spit she gets all over them, it's pretty memorable. :D

I really don't mean to make fun of another man's dog... cause that's grounds for shooting but in that pic of her standing up.... it looks photoshopped because of the disproportion.

I have to wait until all the dogs my wife and kids have either leave us or die before I get the dog I want, in the mean time Sasha fills in pretty good. She's pretty freaking ugly too, part basset hound and part terrier and looks nothing like either breed. Her best trick is to patrol the kitchen looking for stray scraps that hit the floor.

Yeah, I think dogs must have vacuum cleaner DNA or something. :D I'm trying to imagine what part Basset, part Terrier might look like. Not having much luck!

Fred, your description of Budo's ears twirling around reminds me of Lucy's tail - she doesn't wag it, the thing goes around like a windmill. Budo's picture looks like he worships his master and can't get enough of you. Does he live indoors? He sure looks like part of the family, and he's ready for whatever comes next. Like a walk!

Cool! How big a dog is she? That sounds like a lot of energy for 7 years old, I guess that's where the terrier comes in. :)
