Ok,this may not be the place, but I have discovered lots of answers to other questions from the knowledgeable members here.
I have been using Uniden GRS radios on guided tours, helps keep the cars connected and everybody knows what everybody else is looking at,etc. My question is why the unit I am holding seems to eat batteries like crazy. Two things:I mix the units up and usually start with fresh alakline batteries, and ,no I am not doing all the talking.
anybody got any ideas or links to a walky talky blade forum?
Thanks

A couple quick thoughts: Some of the newer models have high-low power options. Are you setting yours on high all the time? Some have battery savers that power down if no activity for a couple minutes. Do you subconsiously thumb the button w/o talking, thereby preventing activation of saver mode?

Google on the name/model of your radio and add "review." I get all kinds of consumer info this way. I've run into things like, "mine ate batteries and I found out there was a recall..." and so on.

otherwise, how do you like the unidens?

reception, size, user friendly? im in the market for something like this. i was thinking the motorola, mainly because of unfamiliarity with other brands.

sorry for the mini hijack, but what brands should i look at?

Perhaps you should look at some of the motorola's with the NIMH battery packs, a set of 2 radios, 2 chargers and 2 batteriers will run you around $80-100 for a good set.
On another note, you did not specify what size of battery you are using. AAA cells will deplete much faster than AA sized cells.

Blue Sky,I will check that, but I own 6 walky talkies and share them out. No matter which one I use seems to eat batteries quicker than other five.
Dale w,thanks for the review tip,I had tried Googling before and wasn't getting anywhere.
Morimotom, generally I like them, everybody else that uses them likes them great. I bought them because they were on sale at the local London drugs for thirtynine cdn dollars a pair and had GRS capability.
Ghostguy6 one pair is a rechargeable set, otherwise AAA
