i was wondering if you could your leather wallet for a strop. i was also wondering if you could use artificial leather belt to strop.

An extremely good strop is cheap to buy and even cheaper to make. The knives plus strop block is only around $20 and I can personally highly recommend stropman. I wouldn't use synthetic leather or your wallet since generally it is the nap of the rough side of the leather that you want for stropping.

if you could track down a wallet made of raw or rough leather then I don't see why not. this would also be extra handy for touching up your blade on the go. I think you can kind of give a softer steel knife a light stropping on your jeans as well

I recently purchased a stropman strop and it has changed the way I live my life. I sleep better, have lost weight and my self esteem is through the roof... I can't recommend stropman enough...

I have used my leather wallet as a strop from time to time. It works decently on the S30V I tried it on. Since people are suggesting strops too. I would suggest Ken Schwartz. He makes the Edge Pro strops. His Kangaroo leather strop coupled with .25 Micron diamond spray is my favorite strop. And since he makes the edge pro strops very flat on aluminum. I was thinking about cutting down one of the 1x6" strops small enough to put in my wallet.

A piece of 6000 grit sandpaper on your thigh works pretty well in a pinch.--KV
