i bought a sweatshirt last night after being disappointed by sweatshirts that were iether to thin or to small, i finally caved and got a high end nice one.

i had a choice between going online and buying a carhartt heavy duty sweatshirt (zip up hoody - because no one carries them in black in L or XL (seemingly anyways)) wich is basicaly a normal sweat shirt with a much heavier cotton weave, about twice to three times as thick as a normal sweatshirt, or just buying a walls brand from carrs boot shop downtown.

upon seeing the walls "ultra blizzard pruf" sweatshirt when i went to carrs, i was quite pleased

i initially bought the large, wich is what i normally wear, but the hood is designed in such a way that if it were to shrink any smaller then it was, it would be pulling the shoulders up with it, and be restrivtive in motion. so i took it back within an hour and got the 2xl (the didnt have an xl) instead. its huge, but it completely covers my knives, and will shrink a little when i wash it.

the thing weighs 3lb 4oz by itself to give you an idea on how heavy duty of a hoody sweatshirt it is.

its built like a normal sweatshirt with a double sided hood (so the outside is the same material as the inside), and the hood is constructed of 2 side peices and one center peice, as apposed to one peice that sewn at the center top

two of the things that impressed me about this sweatshirt is the lining material, and the pockets. the lining is like the "thermal" lining you see in carhartts - but unlike carhartts its neither hard not scratchy. instead its like the fabric you find in thermal underwear

when i saw it i was weary of it because of my experience with carharts "thermal lining" wich is far, far from being thermal in any way. the carhartt lining has the problem that its thin, and has open holes in it that allow the temperature of the canvas to basically hit your skin directly. the end result is that it doesnt really create a cushion of air between you and the canvas, and doesnt add any real warmth at all.. this is especially bothersome with their canvas active jacks, where the canvas takes on room temperature very quickly, and is cold against the skin any time it comes in contact with it.

the pockets on the walls "ultra blizzard pruf" sweatshirt are both wider and taller then normal pockets. so instead of being about 4" from the center zipper, their opening is about 8", and they are several inches taller. the result is that you can very easily and comfortably house a paper back novel without any part of it sticking out of your sweatshirt. with the 2xl version, i can fit a full sized hardback into them

its not quite long enough to cover a shoulder strapped katana, but it does a good job of hiding things that are strapped to the chest/sides/belt.

all in all i am very pleased

the second picture is a picture of where the lining meets the hood. you can see that its a complete weave that doesnt have any large gaps in it.

the outer shell is 60% cotton and 35% polyester, and the lining is 35% cottong, 65% polyester. made in china.

That is the coolest sweatshirt I have EVER seen!! Congrats on the purchase.
