Anyone played with one of these?

My son and I were there yesterday and he was putting the full court press on me to get one. I have an older pottery oil lamp that my dad gave me 15+ years ago that works great, but I wouldn't carry it around.

The WW one is less than $5 bucks now.

So as a back up to the Battery lantern which is the backup to the colman propane...

If it's anything like the one I picked up, it's a bit thin, the oil chamber could be a bit larger and could do with a tighter seal, but it works. Kind of wish I picked up a Dietz instead.

Hi,

Like Gollnick said, they are meant to be more decorative than anything. But I have a couple also and they do work okay. In fact I'm sending one with my freshly graduated Daughter. Her and a couple of her girlfriends are going on a camping trip this week. (She also raided Dad's knife stash. She got my 'Hawk and several knives).

Thanks for the advice. Again, this is a backup of a backup. Would like a REALLY nice one someday, but it is not vital.

I have and use four oil lamps, all antiques. I can light up a room during a power outage quite well, but en mass, they do give off a lot of heat. Welcome in the winter when ice takes down the lines, but a bit much during summer storms. Each gives off enough light to read by. I keep extra fuel and wicks on hand.

I grew up on an Arkansas farm and we were at the very end of the electrical line, so if anything happened anywhere, we were out of power. Since then, I've kept my lamps in working order and used them several times a year, thru two hurricanes in Pensacola and countless summer and winter storms here in Tennessee. These are household lamps, not suitable for camping.

I have a red one, works great for me, like to take it down to the dock at night during camping trips.
