Just to let y'all know in case you didn't;

WALMART (at least here in Orlando) is selling a Spydie Native, the Higher end Buck (Hilo I believe) and a CRKT M-16!!!!

Just thought you should know, and prices were GREAT!

These deals aren't news (been talked about here before), but they bare repeating.

The Native is 40 bucks. An insane deal.

The Buck Mayo Hilo is 30 bucks.

I dunno how much the CRKT M16 is. Never seen it at my WalMart, actually. I'll be on the lookout for it. Thanks.

They also have a Buck 110 commemoritive set for 22 bucks that includes a 110, keychain, sheath, and tin.

The M16 is the zytel handled one and it's in the $25 +/- range. The WM near me has the Buck and CRKT but unfortunately no Native or $20 Buck 110. They also have a good price on the Kershaw Blur.

I heard about the pricing thing, I am more apt to check my reciepts now, thanks for the heads up. As far as it goes here I paid 23.00 for the 110 and so far no native or blur at my local WM

Today, my local WM had a display from Buck that states that the knives it holds (stockman pattern) are made of "440C." Each individual knife, of course, says it's made of 420. Wonder of wonders, the Sporting Goods Dept. guy knew the significance of the inconsistency and felt-tipped out the reference to 440C.

They had some Vic Recruit models marked down for clearance.

Then he made a mistake, the Chinese made stockman patterns from Buck at Wal-Mart with the wood scales are indeed 440C.

B371 Large Stockman
B373 Med. Stockman (cadet)
B375 Lancer
B379 Solo (1 blade)

I own the 373 and 379 both and neither says 420HC on them, but C.J. Buck answered this one himself over in the Buck Forum awhile back.

Then the individual bubbblepaks are mislabeled 'cause they clearly say "420." Either way, someone screwed up.

Somebody did somewhere for sure, I just bought my 373 today at Wal-mart and I went though about 30 looking at the knives through the plastic to find on with no gaps between backsprings, and all of them said "440C" on the blister pack. They must have let a run get out with the wrong cards saying 420HC inside the plastic on the ones you saw.

China+Wal-Mart....what could go wrong?:D

There were several dozen, and they said "420" -- not 420HC.

OK, anyhoo they are 440C. I have been playing with the 373 I bought today as I watch TV tonight, gotta say I'm impressed for $14.95 it a good little Stockman!

I have a Buck 371 Stockman and I really like it. It has very good fit and finish (though that is probably hit or miss), sharp, and very pretty. I much prefer it to the current American-made Buck Stockman with the black plastic scales (the Chinese one has wood scales).

I try to buy American-made when possible, but when the Chinese-made version has equal fit and finish, and better materials, I see no reason to.

Visited Lancaster WalMart in Salem, Oregon and found 5 Spyderco Natives. Bot 2 perfect ones, the first two I looked at, but did not examine any others. Every store in Salem has several Natives according to the manager. She checked the other area store's inventories on a small hand-held device.

Also bot a Kershaw Leek for $30 (I found it with closeouts in a special case, no box or paperwork for the knife, pocket clip was a tad loose and I notice that under the price tag that the Kershaw logo was vague) and a $23 Buck 110 in a metal box with keychain. The manager said that they will have Natives for one year. So, as they sell out they get resupplied.

Used some 1,000 and 3,000 grit polishing tape on the CPMS30V Native's blade, with the EdgePro Apex. It did not readily make the cutting edge mirror-like but the edge became scary sharp. Even sharper than the already sharp type sharp out of the box. Love good blade steel. Your sharpening effort pays off.

Best,
