Photography has been a hobby for me for over 30 years. However, I've always depended on "available light", and 99% of my photos have been outdoor landscapes. All of my knife photos have been done outdoors, with reflected or screened sunlight. This approach has its merits, but is very limited by weather conditions and time of day.
I recently built a light box based on Jim Cooper's design posted on another forum. Wow! - Thanks Coop! I feel like I've just come out of the "dark ages". Now, even my little "point-and-shoot" digital camera can produce an "acceptable" (to me anyway), image, anytime of the day or night.

I finished this knife a couple of months ago, but haven't shown it around much yet.

I'd like to know what you think - knife and/or photo?

Thanks for looking,

Looks like crap! Just kidding, that is a gorgious knife and sheath. Picture looks good, but I'm no photographer.

I dont like the gaurd, and I am not big on the green for a spacer which are both personal preferences. I think it would look better with a more rounded gaurd with that handle and blade shape. To me with flow of the blade and handle the flat lines and corners of the gaurd just dont fit to me. I do like the layerd gaurd look though and do like the materials, just not the shape. I hope thats not too critical.

I love the knife-the hamon looks like it mimics the forged finish-very cool:thumbup:
-seems to me you have a great setup for pictures.Nice job.

I think it has a "Mezo-American" look. I like it. A Jaguar motif on the guard or sheath would fit that image.

photography is sweet.

i love the knife, i think the spacer sets it off just right. I'm getting used to the guard as I look at it, but a inverted teardrop seems like it might flow better. Then again, a guard like that can sure work the pivot in the hand.

You are welcome :-)
When I saw it a picture of a guy with a battered fedora, a whip, and lots of angry locals came to mind.
It does not mirror anything specific from there that I can put a finger on, but has the "feel" of that age/culture to me. I'm also a sucker for temper lines.

The whole damned thing is GREAT, photography and the knife. I just LOVE that knife!!! The hamon, the grip, the choice of materials, WOW!!!!

That primative hammered finish and the hammered look of the square primative guard are extremely complimentary of one another while the green spacer and beautiful handle let you know it is a modern work of art.

i love the blade and handle ,but like barrabas im not too keen on the guard, but that is not to say it wasnt very well done! Just different taste, and im glad we all do have different tastes! well done!

Nice picture, beautiful blade and handle, but (since you asked) I'm another one not fond of the stacked, square guard. Other than that, I really like the lines of the knife itself.
