I received the 20" Sirupati on Monday. This is the one with the walnut handle done by Terry Sisco. I haven't had much time to examine it -- in the office you just can't pop one of these out of the box, and I've had alot going on at home.
The walnut handle is very dark, and it looks and feels great. I think Terry did an excellent job. The handle length is long, making it very comfortable. The wood has a bit of texture to it, which I like.
I have recently realized that I prefer wood handles, and I *really* like this handle.
Terry, if you are reading this, did you use local walnut?
The blade itself seems well made and finished, with a bit of brass inlay. It seems to balance well for me and I'm guessing may be less tiring than the shorter but stouter Uncle Bill Especiale. The scabbard seems well done, and the blade tip doesn't want to chew on the back of the scabbard like my 15" Sirupati. Most kardas I have are somewhat convex ground; this one is "sabre" ground.
I am very pleased, and lood forward to a good wood chopping session to try it out.
