Guys,

If someone has one of John's blades with walnut scales, please post a picture!

Hey rooikat,

Here are two shots of my Hudson Bay fire kit knife, with walnut scales:

All the best,

Thank you very much!

I am playing with the idea of having my next JK handled in walnut.

My 1911 now has walnut grips, and my new 45/70 Marlin also is clad in
what I believe is black walnut.

I thought if I get a bowie in walnut, it would go along with the theme.

Thanks again for the pics!

Thanks! Looks good. I like the blade, as well.

I am a huge fan of your toasted oak handles, like you put on the RUSK MAX.

I am not a big fan of walnut, as most I have seen in the past has been, let's say, lackluster at best.

However, the marlin looks pretty good, and I've had the walnut on my Colt for maybe a week now, and it's growing on me.

The walnut you put on Mentor's stuff has some nice grain to it. Personality.

Overall, that's what I have seen.

However, in this case, I am trying to get a 'match' for the 45/70, which does not have the World's most awesomeist wood itself.

If I go bowie, I'd want it to go with the 45/70.

You might almost be better off starting with a lighter color wood of similar grain and staining it gradually to match your rifle.
