Besides knives I am working on I am also restoring two walnut wooden chairs.
I stripped there finish and need to refinish them. They'll be used around the kitchen table.

So what finish should I use?
I haven't used Truoil before but that is one of the options I an considering.
Any ideas?

For a nice finish a clear polyurethane finish [you can get a waterbase version.]

This is just my opinion, but we use walnut for furniture here pretty often.
My 1st choice would be danish oil.
2nd choice would be wipe on polyurethane.
I have tried the waterbase polycrylic with poor results.

I prefer a wipe on finish because dust is no longer much of a concern.

I would agree with the above sentiments concerning danish oil. I find it to be very well suited for walnut.

If you use a wipe on, oil, verathene (poly) you'll get a really nice durable finish that looks better than danish oil and is easier to keep up. It can also be polished from a satin to gloss sheen. I'm sitting here with my coffee table in front of me and it's that type finsih. I've done dozens of gunstocks like that also.
