This one is Devin Thomas "Raindrop" pattern stainless Damascus. Scales are superb fossil walrus ivory, with 14K gold pins (some in the blade, too), and 416SS bolsters. Just short of 6" overall.

I really love this knife. I prefer the ivory handle to the MOP that I see on most of your knives. This of course is personal preference.

I don't comment very often on gallery images but if the colors in the pic are similar to the real knife at all...wow! The pins in the blade are a very nice addition too, they kinda remind me of the brass pins in some "qixing" Chinese swords, but better since I hate brass! :D

Very nice work! :)

Don,

Please step away from the knife grinder while I still have some money left. School tuition, my wife's birthday and our anniversary fall within the next two months. Near as I can tell, I can afford any two out of three. Maybe I can trade one of your knives for tuition.

Beautiful work. You have the eye and imagination to know how to put colors, textures and shapes together in order to create a beautiful knife.

Don, that knife is incredibly elegant!! I just love the gold through the blade and your signature gem! Keep on keeping on.

Don, if you only made folders, I'd be talkin' to you MONTHLY! Seriously, ever think about making folders? I think you make some of the nicest fixed blade "gent's knives" that I've seen, but I only collect folders, so I'm not in your market. I think alot of your designs could easily be converted, and would be REALLY cool folders.

Don,

Would you please add a picture of your Black Pearl Spear that you sold me at the Atlanta Blade show? I don't have the ability to post a picture, but I would love to show off the knife you made for me. I know that mother of pearl is not for everyone, but your black lip mop is something special. I like the walrus, but it doesn't have the depth or color of the black lip pearl.

A little off topic, but I use the knife daily even though I can't decide if it is a functional pocket knife or beautiful pocket jewelry.

John

Both of them are stunning Don! Nicest black lip I have seen in a while. John congratulations on that purchase.

I had an interesting experience at the Blade show in Atlanta. My goal was to at least walk by every "custom" knifemaker's table. I started at one end of the hall and wallked up and down the aisles without looking at anything but the tables. I had no idea where I was in the hall or whose knives I was looking at. My goal was not to stop at any table, but just to look at all the knives. Two tables stopped me in my tracks and one was Don's. I knew what he had at the show, but I didn't know that I was even close to his table. My first thought as I walked by (before I recognized that these were Don's knives) was, "Wow, what a beauty!" My second thought was that these knives looked just like Don Cowles' knives. When I looked up I discovered that both of my thoughts were correct.

I don't know how, but your stuff just gets better and better and it was pretty darn good to start with. Question - what is that on the bolster - is it a flat for engraving or an inlay ? Jason.

Jason, that is a mother of pearl inlay. You guys are very generous with your praise; you should see the ones I throw away. :(
