My buddy Scott Roush recently posted a really cool viking sword that he submitted for display at the Guilford Art Center's "Art of the Knife" exhibit in Guilford, CT from July 10 through August 18. So I thought I'd post my submission here as well. It's not quite as big as Scott's but I'm OK with that. Besides, my wife likes it just the way it is.
Anyway, this little bird & trout knife has a forged W2 blade, stainless guard, and walrus ivory handle. Some of you may have seen in on my table at Blade with the "not for sale" sign next to it, and though I could have sold it three times over I just couldn't part with it. The walrus is a beautiful creamy caramel piece that just melts right into the hand, and the slim W2 blade with a subtle but active hamon (not visible in the pics) is just perfect for cleaning out a few fresh caught brookies on the riverbank.
I never did measure it before sending it off to Guilford but I estimate the blade to be about 3", give or take. And I'm also pleased to report that I picked up another great walrus tusk tip which will work beautifully on the next one.
Big thanks to my handsome friend Mace Vitale for organizing this exhibit. If any other BFC members have knives on display there, please feel free to add them to this thread.
As always, any comments or critiques are welcomed.
