Just finished this little skinner, it was my first time working with bone and I really enjoyed it. The blade gave me fits there for a while but it came out pretty good. It's 52100 carbon steel tempered to 61rc, tapered tang with black liners. The pins are peened nickel silver as is the lanyard tube. I'm going to have to get some of those Corby bolts.......

Thanks for the feedback stezann, I appreciate it. Italy, never been, looks beautiful!

Thank you v8r, it turned out pretty nice.

Thank you BM, I appreciate the feedback....

Very nice ... have been expanding my own operation but haven't.gotten into 52100 yet... what was your heat treat recipe? Did you confirm results with an RC tester? Ever play with 5110, same as 52100 but with less chrome which I generally like for hard use blades.

Hello there atavist, My recipe is actually Ed Fowlers. Triple quench in 180 degree oil, freeze between quenches and temper at 350 for 120 min. Of course the recipe will vary 5 min here, 10 degrees there depending on whether the crows are after my chicken eggs or not! I do have an rc tester and test every blade, sometimes multiple times, (they're kind of handy.) I have not used 5110, sounds like something I would like to try though. Thanks for the thumbs up! seeya around........

Awesome... thanks for the info... out of curiosity do you see an as quenched RC difference between quenches or does the multiple quenched serve only for grain refinement?
