Finished just before Christmas, this 14 3/4" bowie has a 440C blade 416 oval guard and ferrule. The handle has a frame construction with 416 center and titanium liners. The handle material comes off a large Walrus tusk that was sent to me in payment for a knife. That trade worked out well for both of us. I still haven't figured out how to properly take a picture of a mirror polished blade but then I also have not taken the time to really learn it either. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

One of your nicest shapes and materials yet. What a pleasure.

Photos: You simply need more diffuser area and back off the lighting at the shiny end. Photo #2 almost gets it all.

Prop the tip up just a smidgen. Don't use a direct bulb to light it anywhere.

Great character to the ivory. Nice work!

Thanks Jim
Your comments are really appreciated, especially since you see so many wonderful pieces.
I need to rebuild my light box, my white tack board has seen far better days. Do you have a picture of your current setup that you would be willing to share?
Thanks

Steve Sir,
That is one of the finest Bowies i have seen for a very long time.
i have looked at hundreds of Bowies to find my ideal shape and i can say i have found it.
Now going to plan my Bowie, but it wont be exotic handle material.
Thanks for showing us this stunner.

Thanks for the compliments. It was a fun knife to make.
The blade is 9 5/16 from front of guard to tip, blade is 1 3/8 at its widest, guard is 1/4" 416 stainless 2 7/8" high and 15/16 wide, handle is frame construction exactly 5" from back of guard to further point, ferrule is 1/4" thick 416 1" high by 3/4 wide. Liners are file worked 1/16" titanium and the pins are 1/16 stainless.
Hope that helps.
Thanks again
Steve

Hi Steve,

This is a cheesy posed photo, but the setup is what I use home and at a Show. That size is determined from one piece of draftsman's 'Velum' tracing paper as a diffuser: It's 40" x 32" and is common to acquire in an artist supply store.

Good luck!

That looks dandy. And while you may need a little work on your photos, they are pretty good as they are. Heck if it was posted in a for sale section I would seriously consider it. Keep up the good work
