Ok, I went over to Leroy's Remer last weekend after the swap meet and took some pictures to share with everyone about a post that was on here a week or two ago about Walrus Penile Bone (Petrify) used for inlays/Scales/handle slabs... Well I don't have a picture of it on a Buck knife (sorry)... But I know a few guys that have a Buck knife with the inlays/scales/handle slabs on them... They were done by Leroy Remer... Here's a few pictures of Leroy R. Remer of Triple R Knives (ex-Buck-employee) Knife that he made with a Petrify Walrus penis... ... Thanks for looking... ITE ...

Very cool, but I'm afraid that I'd have an urgent urge to wash my hands after handling it! :D

Look some things are just ment to be sacrete. I dont think there are too many men out there that would brag about how wonderful this petrified walrus Johnson feels in your hand. But it takes all kinds to make the world turn!!!!

That's a true bone handle lol,by the way excellent photos! The pins look sorta like some type of pop rivet.Do you know what they are? It's amazing the way he made the fit and finish so perfect!

Thanks Skyhorse, I don't think that they are rivets... Look more like small screws... like the 186 knife... ITE ...

"Oosik" is native Alaskan for the Baculum bone found in mammals of the north, generally it is used in connection with the Walrus. The Baculum or Os penis is found in the penis of most mammals, however it is absent in humans. But is present in chimps.....go figure.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baculum

An "Oosik" makes a formidable club and no doubt has settled a few domestic disputes in the cold north. Man to man that is. It is found petrified in the tundra or 'raw' from a walrus.....remember we are talking several tons of walrus......just for FYI to comments above, in the east and south Raccoon hunters sometimes take the Baculum bone of a big male Raccoon and wear it around their neck on a string, have it on their keychain or carry it , sharpened on one end, in some manner where they weild it as a toothpick when necessary........world is full of 'rich' wildlife culture that has no ties to human behaviors or beliefs.......

300Bucks
this is not a large one.
