I've seen walrus ivory offered by some suppliers. Is this fresh ivory or fossilized?
For some reason I thought trade in walrus ivory was prohibited much like elephant ivory. Am I wrong?- Guy T.

Hey Silent, any time anything is fossilized it can be used without any problems. After all if it's fossilized its been dead and buried for a long time and using it poses no threat on any endangered animals.

Jake, thanks for the input, I realize any fossilized materials are o.k., I guess I wasn't clear in my post. My question should have been "Is trade in walrus ivory from recently deceased animals prohibited under national/international conventions?"-Guy T.
