Walter Mitty and Diesel Trucks

Cummins builds a very impressive motor. They clean up at all the truck pulls I've ever been to.
Stock, Ford's powerstroke (collaboration with Case IH) deisel is generally right there in the same numbers for torque and horsepower, and Chevy is usually there somewhere close also. Seems to be much more potential in the cummins though as folks just aren't as successful in turning the other motors up that much. Its also a very efficient engine, capable of getting around 20 mpg in a full size truck if driven right.
The amount of power those pulling trucks have is unbeleivable. I've pulled over 10,000 lbs with a stock ford diesel on several occasions and it handled it pretty easily. If you tried to put it in a pull in the same class as the tweaked deisels like in the video it probably wouldn't get over halfway down the track. You can't run a truck that hard for very long when they're turned up like that. The turbo would get smoked not to mention the amount of fuel you would use

i know a guy w/a '03 dodge cummins 1 ton 4WD auto w/all the banks stuff on it (reprogrammed, turbo mods, exhaust system, propane injection, etc) and it runs mid 12's in the 1/4 mile, pretty impressive to say the least.
