Hi all, .
I'd been looking for a walters axe with an ogdensburg, ny stamped handle for a little while because I was born in Ogdensburg, so I thought it would be cool to have.
I found one a little while back. Spent a while straightening up the bit and the head was loose so I rehung it a little better. I should post a picture of the huge iron wedge I pulled out of it.

The handle is stamped
WALTERS AXE CO.
OGDENSBURG, N.Y.
and then also
HI TONE HICKORY

my question is - does anyone know the best way to make the stamp more visible?
I was thinking about maybe a ultra fine paint marker? the letters are actually quite small - I'm not sure if I can get a paint marker fine enough. I don't want to make a mess of it. maybe a wood burner?

thanks for any help.

here is a pic of the whole axe. Montreal pattern I believe. 28" total. I forgot to weigh the head when I had it off. total weight is 3.5lbs, so maybe about a 2.5lb head. Head is ~ 6.5" x 4.5".

I already messed up the handle a little bit - there was a little bit of splintering under the head so I thought it would fill it with gorilla glue to shore it all up. I knew that gorilla glue swelled and foamed up, but I didn't catch it fast enough and it kept swelling longer than I anticipated, so I ended up with some gorilla glue viable :( :(

and here is the wedge I pulled out of it - pretty cool actually.
