any of you porkers seen, held or shot the walther pps, if so what did you think of it?

I dunno. I like my P99. But that's got one heck of a bore axis issue. Looks like the thing is on stilts. The recoil will be harder to control at that height. Same reason I dislike SIG pistols - for the size, the bore axis is just too high compared to a Glock.

Its a classic but a bit of a lump in your pocket - the platform is a bit much for the round .. I might go for a little Glock or a Kahr in 9mm at least- gives you a bit more bag for the buck. :)

UPDATE - Ohhh - this is some new fangled contraption thing-a-ma-bob... I still stand by the Glock - simple, basic gun that you point and it goes bang!

Or perhaps this nice Taurus .22 Mag - 8 shots :)) Kind of a Trout fishing gun :D

well poop on it, looked interesting but about 50% of the reviews say it has issues.

i was going to use it as a back up to my nmfbm for tree hunting but i just can't take a chance on a something that won't function.

My most reliable list is short.
Browning High-Power, 20 years and never jammed once.
AMT Backup .380 no issues ever and slips in the waistband like a glove.
Colt 1911 .45 my little friend...I love her even if shes a little big in the hips.

For a similar pistol, I vastly prefer the Glock 19. It's a bit thicker, but you KNOW it will get the job done. The only plastic-framed Walther I've ever shot was my little P22, which was great until I basically wore it out. After maybe 20,000 rounds, it stopped functioning reliably- the hammer drops now whenever the slide cycles- so it only really works as a single shot, single action now. When it worked, it was great. But my experience kinda soured me on Walther. 20,000 rounds of .22 shouldn't be a big deal. I've had zero problems with my Glock- after thousands of rounds, I haven't had a single malfunction of any sort.

I own a Walther PPK/S and a P99. I loved the P99. Great ergos, the replaceable backstraps were great, and it shot extremely well. Quickly became one of my favorites but... a piece of the trigger group (don't know the actual title) plastic part broke off and then the warranty issue became such an issue with S&W (as per their written guidance) that I said "screw it" and it sits broken in my gun safe. Sad story actually.

Looks like Walther is trying to take on the Kahr market. I've been very happy with my Kahr PM9. It has been flawless for about 500 rounds, and it is TINY! Very good for concealment.
Here is the Kahr with a modded SAR5.

already have a 36 23 27 ppk/s and the p22, all great pistols. i was just thinking of something new to play with. but this pps sounds unreliable to me.

I own its bigger brother, the excellent Walther P99. The only complaint I have with the P99 concerns the trigger angle and shape of the trigger guard. I had to do a little shaping of the trigger guard in order to be able to manipulate the trigger properly. For this reason alone, I would highly recommend handling the PPS before committing to purchase one - always a good bit of advice when it comes to firearm purchases, but not always so easy to do in this era of ever disappearing gun shops.

Hey stinker, get yourself a Glock and send it to GentleBen at Boresight Solutions to have it made perfect. My 19 and 21sf now have thinner grips and 1911 grip angles. VERY nice for me now.

I had a P99QA and it was TERRIBLE. Had to do index curls to be able to pull the trigger to breaking, and the bore axis was indeed VERY high.

It's nice, but old technology.. feels good in the hand.. the stainless model is good for carrying in the summer. only problem is .380 ammo.. not very powerful.. if you must go with it. get hydroshocks or something that is a potent hollowpoint... a better weapon for concealment is the glock 26 or 27.. smaller, more firepower, more potent 9mm round or .40... only thing is it is a bit more thicker than the walther.. I like it, and can shoot a better group than with a walther.... but to each his own.
