Hi All,

Hope that the fall is treating you well. I managed to get away for some hiking last weekend, in Gatineau Park. It was a full-day wander that ended after dark, and involved some fire-making.

Terrific action shot of Ruby running after a stick:

A nice little fire - this time with a convenient fire pit:

My knife for this outing was my JK ACEK (this is a bit of an older photo, as I didn't get the chance to snap any new ones):

All the best,

Great pics. Now that you've had the ACEK for a while, how are you liking the dual grind?

I love it. I re-ground the scandi portion to a single bevel a few months ago, and it now performs exactly as I had hoped it would. It has been used to chop, clean fish, make dozens of fires, shave wood, notch sticks, and prep food. It really is my 'one knife'.

All the best,

Awesome photos Mike. I love pics from that area, many of those would make awesome desk tops!

Thanks, gents. It certainly is a terrific bit of country. I'm presently up on Blue Mountain, which is about a month ahead of the rest of southern Ontario in terms of colours / leaves. The trees here are barren! Makes me want to go snowshoeing.

All the best,

- Mike

Awesome pics, that one with the coals is absolutely mesmerizing.

That ACEK is freakin cool too:cool:

Mike's girlfriend: "What are you doing with your camera so close to the fire while you're blowing on the coals?"

Mike: "Getting a picture of the hot coals. They look neat."

Mike's girlfriend: "I agree, but I think you're singing your beard. And your camera strap is smoking."

;)

Glad you like the picture!

Hahahahaha, well, I appreciate the risk you took in getting it:p:D
