Hello Michael,

Yes I have some stuff laying around from the ol' home foundry. I've got some 3000 degree F. dry mix castable refractory...I think it is in 100lb bags, also some graphitic plastic refractory 3300 F (molten iron contact) in 100 lb boxes...and some 2" thick ceramic blanket (good for over 2000 F..I think)

Let me know if you think you can use any of these things and I'll get the specs pulled out for you.

Take care,
Rob Frink

Tracy, I've grown lazier and lazier in my old age. Sorry I've never taken you up on your offer to visit your shop! I really don't know whats wrong with me. I sat down the other night to grind some blades and got half way thru the first one and just sat there lookin at the grinder. Just don't seem to have the touch or the desire anymore.
Eric, thanks for the link!!! Theres alot of good info on that web site! I'm gonna build a small propane forge, smelter. My neighbor had some spare kao wool and swapped me for it. Just have to find the pipe now.

Michael, sounds like you have BBO. Blademakers burn out. Try building something as a project, un realated to knives, everyone needs a vacation. Been missing you here on the board?

I was figuring on 18" long 12" diameter pipe. That sound like a good size for a propane forge?????
