So I have a fixed blade coming relatively soon, that I know the scales might be questionable on, so I'm interested in possibly shaping my own.
I have no qualms with doing the work. I've done some minor woodwork before, am comfortable creating things by hand in general, and I'm not afraid to f' something up and have to start over. But I have no idea where to actually buy the materials.
So some quick questions:
- Are any of the scale materials on that big-river site worth buying?
- Is there a better place to buy from (forum sponsor maybe)?
- Can I buy individual blanks relatively cheaply (only want one or two sets)?
- Would there be brick and mortar stores that might have them?
- If so, what type of store would I search out?
- What about hardware if I need it?
- Would a good hardware store have stuff, or am I stuck searching online?
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
(mods: please feel free to move this if it should be in a different forum)
