There seems to be quite a few newer folks joining the Becker forum, so I will bring this to your attention. You get chances to win a brand spankin' new Becker knife now and then simply by participating in some often easy contests. Such as this one going on right now. They are usually set up as "stickies" in the yellow highlighted threads at the top of the discussion forum here.

Naw I think he's more than qualified, if he wanted it. I thought of doing this too. It's summer time and peple are out busy doing stuff so contest entries aren't as high.

Primary motivation was a heart felt act of kindness toward the new members. :)

I am really looking forward to participating in some of these contests.

Yar, thanks for the reminder, un. :D

Upnorth would have had his BH# back in the beginning, he waived his. Classy mofo. :D

Yup, one classy dude. Remember my "night before xmas poem" ? :D I will admit that I do enjoy my plastic cup corner store Champagne, while lounging in the trailer park though.

indeed. it's easy. it's fun. i hear people are planning stuff, but really, i've got *5* knives donated by KaBar waiting for homes. in various ways. so ... let's have at it.

i mean really, i never figured it would be this hard to not give away stuff ;) oiy ;)

might just have to keep them or something.

:D

Some of these contests are very time consuming and only work for diehard forum posters/addicts. I for one would just rather have a decent discount on a knife.

PS I'm not saying they're not fun, just too time consuming for some of us.

Well my time is worth money...and knives are worth money...ergo my time is worth a knife.

There's some that are feasible to enter, and some that aren't, depending on the person and their circumstances. I live in an apartment, with no back yard, no easy access to the woods, no photoshop on my 10 year old laptop...and I recently won a brand new Kabar ZK War Sword by spending a weekend experimenting with zombie makeup and dressing in my paintball gear to take some pictures. Had a ton of fun, and got a free knife out of it. I might not be able to enter a 48 hour survival contest, or make a room full of furniture out of tree limbs without dedicating and planning some serious time for it...but there are alot of contests that come up that, with a little outside-the-box thinking, just about anyone can enter, without even having to leave their house.

...And I don't get how you could compare getting a good discount for doing nothing to winning a contest for a knife by doing something lol.

The same way you can enter other contests on other manufacturers forums without doing anything, you just enter. See, you win something without doing anything.
Also we're part of the forum, other forums give discounts to members, just because they are members.
Is it becoming more clear? :D

It depends on how much your time is worth; doesn't it?

If you enjoyed jumping through the hoops of the contest and it provided you with entertainment, then have fun.

The BK10 for 2/3 of the price, and pre-sale wasn't enough of a discount for doing nothing? lol. A contest is just that...a contest. I don't complain cuz I can't win the tour-de-france by sitting on my ass. I guess I just prefer a proactive approach to things, rather than expecting discounts on knives just by being here.

but your chances are MUCH better here. smaller pool. when some other forum says "free knife", they get people signing up that have never heard of the forum before, just to win. seems pointless. esp with non Becker knives :D :D :D "hey, i won a bear grylls knife!"

absolutely :) some people can knock some of these contests out in an hour. $100 knife. that's good pay.

jump my minions, jump!

If I wanted a BK10, then OK. But I didn't want one.
Talk about a stretch.... knife contest vs Tour de France.
Not complaining, just expressing my opinion on a thread about why people are not responding to the contest.
I see you're from BC, beautiful country. You've got time.:D:D:D

I do have a proactive approach, I just buy it.

I look at it as a chance to learn a new skill while at the same time potentially winning a knife. If my skill is good I may win, if not I probably won't. For the most part I've gotten something on almost every contest I've entered, granted I only enter bushcraft skills contests, cause i can't do anything talented with computers.

Also it's a good bonding experience with one of my boys, who always wants a piece of the action.
