Have quite a few traditional folders, I want an EDC that’s not overly large with easy one hand deployment under $100. Soooo…. Benchmade, Spyderco, Buck, Civivi, Rat etc?

Way too many to list.

Buy one of the highly recommended ones like Rat2, elementum, grip, blur, tenacious, etc. Once you buy your first and used it a little, you'll start to develop ideas on what exactly you're looking for.

I personally started the journey into modern knives with a kershaw blur with serrations and glassbreaker, because I was lazy and wanted a knife that could do it all lol.

Good luck, if you REALLY want me to start listing, let me know :)

Going to be hard to find a BM or Spyderco that fits that under $100. At least I haven't been able to find one that is.

You said flipper or I would recommend an Ontario Rat 2 D2. As for a flipper, pick up a Ruike P801, great knife for the price with decent steel and bearings and definitely not 'overly large'.

I’m sorry, I should have mentioned thumb stud too. I just want an ez one handed deploy that’s not scary big and can perform every day tasks that a 76 year old guy encounters. Not looking to skin deer or anything, besides doing traditional folder tasks, it’s nice to have a quickly deplorable knife just in case.

Cold Steel Air Lite, about 60 bucks. Relatively small and non-threating.
Spyderco Delica, about 80 bucks. Small, light, thin blade.
Buck 112 Slim Pro. Great warranty.

Definitely an Ontario Rat 2 D2 then. The only thing I might recommend depending on your wants/needs is a deep carry clip and there are many of those available and you'll still be well under $100. Pick one up from a reputable dealer though as there are fakes on the big auction site.

I've been repeatedly impressed by CIVIVI. I think in the under $100 category they're almost impossible to beat in terms of materials and build quality. My personal favorites are the Imperium and the Riffle (well, the button lock Elementum is up there, too, but not as easily available).

Buck Sprint. The micarta/s30v Pro is right at $100. The select is $50. I have the pro and its a solid, well made knife that feels good in hand.

Kershaw chive, scallion, or leek. I personally like the chive and scallion better than the leek, but the leek is pretty popular.

O.B.

It's really hard to beat Civivi in the sub-$100 range. As mentioned above, the S35VN Elementum is a lot of knife for the money: modern steel (now a step below the highest tier) and impeccable build quality for $80ish is outstanding. Even their original $42.50 knives demonstrate an absurd level of care (the Praxis is still a favorite of mine; you don't see fully-polished, skeletonized and electroplated liners on a knife that cheap from anyone else).

The RAT I and II are modern classics, but I'm not crazy about their insistence on using the Teflon and PB washer combo when almost everyone else has given up on Teflon.
