Just called Northridge asking about the Mod-E, seems like that may be a long time coming, the guy indicated they were out of stock, couldn’t say how long it would be, they did other things for a living and that’s why they were so far behind (since 2018), and the real reason he got into grinders was that someone said something that made him mad and he decided to do something about it.
Being popular has its benefits, I guess.
With the recent thread regarding the Mod-E, thought I’d pass this along to other’s interested it that model.

Hopefully soon, I have the Northridge Standard mod 2 and it’s phenomenal. Tried a few other grinders at friends, NE School of metalwork etc and still think I made the best decision. Talked to George (Great guy, very helpful) also recently and really want to add the mod-e to the shop as a second grinder. Already have a motor and vfd (used) waiting for it...

I hope you are right, Thom, but it did not sound that way (soon). I did not come away from the conversation with a sense of interest in giving any kind of lead time or committing to availability in the future. Nice guy though.

I recommended the mod-e to a buddy of mine in the summer, I called George and he said about 6 weeks... Buddy kept checking and 12 weeks later he finally gave up as George could not advise on when they would have any. He ended up getting a little buddy from Wilmont. NRT makes good grinders, but they can't keep up apparently. I think I will find another grinder when the time comes, personally. Customer service is almost everything to me.

I ordered a pro package Northridge on July 8th and it was delivered on the 16th. George was very upfront with me about their production schedule when we talked. Maybe I'm just lucky. I've had the same experience with KMG a couple of years ago. It was at my door within a week of ordering.

I don’t even see the mod-e listed on their website anymore.
FYI: Diktator Grinders makes what appears the be a nearly exact copy of the mod-E. You can do with that information what you will.

I imagine the pro package would be here post-haste. Not lucky, simple economics.

Sorry for the delay on the mod-e, Drew you are right, dictator grinders & obm grinders they are the same company same building, copied the mod-e from solid works drawings I put on IG even had it done before us copied it exactly then put it on eBay and in the ad started talking shit about us, they are a joke, any way we redesigned it but have not had enough time to finish them, we have been to busy with big grinders Dan its not simple economics its we built 400 mod-2 grinders and we can ship them out quickly as soon as we get a little slow down we will finish the mod-e and its much nicer with the redesign.

Thank you George

No worries, this worked out to my advantage.

First off I’m sorry to hear that your IP was copied and used by another company. I won’t comment on any particular country that’s notorious for that but my blood boils when I hear of this type of thing.

anyway, I look forward to the new and improved mod-e. It’s in my budget and it feels like it is an aerospace -like quality / tolerance machine.
Happy new year.
