I have been trying to purhcase a plain Sebenza 21 with a centered blade for a couple of months now with no luck. Sebenza's seem to be in short supply, and the few I have found had off center blades. For example, this morning I examined eight Sebenza's in a dealer's case. Only the fancy models had centered blades. A few weeks ago, I returned a large plain 21 with an off center blade that I purchased from an internet dealer. It was certainly functional, but I won't buy a knife with an off center blade

Does anyone know where I can find a good one? Does CRK reserve the best for inlays and graphics?

I had one Sebenza with a off centered blade and I sent it in to CRK and they fixed it in a fast, friendly and corteous manner that impressed me. I don't know where you are looking but I haven't seen very many with off centered blades.

even my very used sebenza has a dead center blade. as long as it doesnt rub the scales, i dont see the problem really.

did you try to dis-and-reassemble the knife?

I've owned 6 Sebenzas and they all had centered blades. I've never seen one with an off centered blade, actually.

You have some bad luck mister. I had a Small 21 that was slightly off center but after a disassembly and cleaning it centered itself upon reassembly. Every other Sebenza, or CRK knife for that matter, that I've ever owned was centered. That sucks bud. I hope you can find your centered Seb.

Never!!! Ever!!! had a off center blade from CRK!!! have my share too...even mnandi's. something just don't sound right....

I’ve owned 4 sebenza’s one that I bought very used had a slightly off centered blade. I took it apart and cleaned it (had some gunk stuck in the pivot) and it centered up beautifully.

Every one I’ve ever seen new was centered perfectly. Either you have the worst luck, if that’s the case avoid thunderstorms cause I think your chances of being struck by lightning are similar to finding several Sabenza’s with off centered blades. Or you haven’t really seen a Sebenza.

I have several Sebenzas. One came with an off center blade. I sent it to CRK and they quickly fixed it and it is now perfect. The rest came dead center.

I can't explain what you found at your dealer. Maybe the dealer has disassembled them and reassembled them improperly.

I found a large classic in a dealers display case about a month ago - and the blade is dead center. It was the only large plain he had, and the other ones including the small were also dead centered - 8 in total.

No, I returned it for a refund, not knowing whether disassembly/reassembly would correct the problem or void my right to return the knife. As it was, the dealer had a fit because I untied/retied the lanyard to confirm the blade was really off center before I returned it, so I am reluctant to order another sight unseen.

I went through the display case with a nearby dealer this morning, and we agreed there wasn't a plain Sebenza with a centered blade to be found, but she assures me that they do exist, so I placed an order for one. The fancier versions with inlays or graphics were well centered, but I am looking for a plain one.

Something does sound amiss with the story, why in the world would a dealer sit on inventory like that?

I have or have owned a dozen sebenzas ( regular & 21 ), 5 mnandi and a umnumzaan. ALL have had centered blades. I have yet to see a legit uncentered blade from CRK. Any I ever saw uncentered was because they were assembled wrong by the owner. After taking them apart and assemblying them correctly, they were centered.

Why wouldn't a legit dealer disassemble and reassemble one on the spot to see if that was the problem rather than sitting on it hoping for a customer that wouldn't notice.

Maybe the dealer doesn't know what they are doing and have a bunch they did not reassemble properly over the time. They only make around a 1000 of each size Sebenza a year, I think CRK would prefer having dealers that recognize an off centered blade and what to do about it. Who is the dealer?

Well, the OP did say, "I went through the display case with a nearby dealer this morning, and we agreed there wasn't a plain Sebenza with a centered blade to be found, but she assures me that they do exist."

Not saying a woman can't handle a Sebs set-up....but well, I'm just saying...I dont know one.:D

The story seems mighty fishy.

Given that at least ONE of the people responsible for Sebenza creation is a woman (and prominently featured on the CRK website)... but well, not saying you are an @ss... I'm just saying!

Relax Matty...

I'm sure Anne, Heather and Lisa can all put a Sebbie back together just fine.

I said I dont know any. Not...I dont know OF any.

But still, just the line, "I'm sure they(centered Sebbies) exist" is laughable.
