Scott at Edgeworks has indicated that as part of his WWIII sheath run, he'll use the same design on any other similarly shaped khukuri we send him. With that in mind, here's the deal:

For $42.00 you can have your khukuri - ANY make or model up to 18 inches in length - fitted with a Gurkha House/Edgeworks Kydex Sheath.

Just send me your khukuri, along with a check for the $42.00, and I'll send it off with the WWIIIs. Remember, Edgeworks is so swamped with business right now that they have a huge wait list for custom orders. So, if you want a kydex sheath for your khukuri (HI,GH,CS - whatever), this is your chance to jump the line. Remember, please send the khukuri to me (not Edgeworks), as it will be shipped with the rest of the WWIIIs.

Craig,

Will the sheath be custom fitted to the particular kukri sent?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark: you got it. Custom fit. They are able to do this because although they will be custom fitting EACH khukuri in the run, the whole process will be sped up tremendously becasue once they have the custom fit shell, the accouterments, holes, snaps, etc will be easy to knock out in blocks.

Craig,

Did they figure out how to design the scabbard to include the Kard and Chakma?

Guns are for show. Knifes are for Pros.

Craig,

Does it have to be a khukuri? What about something similair like this:

<img src = "http://www.invis.com/kriscutlery/naginata.jpg">

It's about the same dimensions as a khuk, 11.5" blade.

The scabbard will, alas, be chakma and karda free - I hated to do it, but the design prohibited it unless they were to be placed on the "face" of the scabbard - which proved to interfere with functionality (the Chakma and Karda getting snagged on stuff during jumps, etc).

Tallwinged-one:

Alas, it has to be a khukuri - the sheath is khukuri-specific, and any oddballs we throw in there will not add to the economy of scale that enables me to make the "any khukuri" offer.

But that IS a nice blade! Who did it?

Craig, that's a Kris Cutlery Naginata. A Japanese polearm blade designed to chop. It's forged 5160 steel edge quenched in oil. And the best part is -- it's only $27!

I think it'll make a great knife. If I can find a handle and sheath maker.

Ssssh, don't tell them or they'll increase their price.

Yes, they can't afford powerhammers, so everything is hand forged. Ironically, in the 3rd world, hand forging is more economical than stock removal.

Tallwinged: WOW! Isn't that funny. Stock removal more expensive than hand-forging. I guess it makes sense, especially due to the cheap cost of labor and unavailability of machinery.

And ah - you've inspired me to post a new thread!
