Hello folks. This is my first thread on the forum and the info I seek is vital to my hiking and bushcraft pursuits- sharpening of my blades. I didnt for some time realize how vital proper sharpening is to effectiveness.

With that said, Id like recommendations for sharpening gear - presently I have several edges to keep sharp: kershaw ram (edc, but doesnt get much abuse at all), one of the cheap moras, ontario rat 7, ontario machete, and 1080 4" steel fixed blade.

I like to hike, bacpack, and am learning some bushcraft basics; so a home setup and something traveling would be appropriate.

The only real sharpening apparatus I own is a red/green dmt handheld.

Thanks for any help you desire to give.

get a set of the dmt dia sharps or a spyderco doublestuff. both come in a small enough size that you can keep the in a wallet and the spyderco has a leather pouch that could make an impromptu strop.

Thanks for the replies guys. I bought the dmt package with course, fine, e. fine in a wooden box. Ive heard these are not good for convex grind. Your thoughts?
