I will be going there for a little R&R and won't even try to bring a knife into the country- tried that with an expensive dive knife once (YES, I had the rest of the diving gear 
) and it was "confiscated". I am looking for a blade shop where I can get an inexpensive slipjoint because I can't bear to be without a simple tool like a knife.
I would like to check out the local flavor so if anyone knows of a blade shop in Tulum or Playa Del Carmen, let me know.
If push comes to shove, there is a Wal-Mart in Playa, but 1) I don't know if they would sell blades there and 2) like I said, I would like to stay with the local flavor if possible.
