Well, I've always wanted a Benchmade, but I've kept putting it off in favor of other knives. I'm considering the Bedlam, but I was curious to see if there were any other big Benchmade folders. Also, do any Bedlam owners want to give their input? Do you love it? Do you hate it?

There are a ton of other Benchmades to choose from, I like the Contego because it is so aggressive, but the Bedlam is a cool looking knife and very functional. If you like flippers then there is the 300SN flipper.

If big is your thing, the Contego, Adams, and Mini Onslaught are other suggestions. The 710 is also fairly big, but it's handle and blade profile are much thinner than the other options.

What are you going to be doing with it? If you are going to be doing rough work with it, I would stay away from 154cm. D2 for me has been the toughest steel on any of my benchmades, also seems willing to take a sharper edge than my S30V's. My personal larger favorites are the contego, mini onslaught, 940, full size ritter grip, and a few others

I just got a 522 and its pretty big. I like it so far. Its in 440c. Dont know much about steel but i know it came sharp it is staying pretty sharp so im satisfied.

If you like thinner knives then the mini-onslaught is nice. Thin flat-ground blade, slices amazingly.

Just standard edc stuff, nothing crazy. I prefer bigger folders.

I think I'll start with the Bedlam or Adamas, then move to the Contego

In the 4" blade range I can't recommend the Contego highly enough.

For the price I really don't think you can do better regardless of brand. A 3.98" long x 0.156" thick CPM-M4 reverse tanto blade and of course the AXIS lock.

The Contego really is a stand out in my opinion and on many levels.

If you are looking for something a bit more on the slim and lighter side but still offers good blade size the 710 is the way to go. An exceptional knife in every way.

Best of luck and hope you find something you like!

I read somewhere that the Bedlam 860 is discontinued. If you are going to pick one up, you better do it soon.
