With this paycheck or possibly the next one depending on how the weekend plays out I will be getting another spyderco. I'm coming off my benchmade kick and have been carrying my Para 2 again. I think it's time for a new knife. The problem here is that I only will buy one knife at a time for personal reasons and I can't decide which one to get first. So this will just be a simple poll, choose the one you'd buy or bought and if you feel up to it tell me why you'd choose one over the other.

I want a true waved knife and move away from the zip tie, but zip ties work so I can deal with either knife, I prefer the manix's size and shape more than the endura but I still really want an endura. I could care less about steels as well. I'm not one to whine because the knife I like doesn't have the latest and greatest stainless steel. I do wish there were more modern locking/one hand folders that used 1095. I digress...my issue boils down to this:

What the manix doesn't have that I like the endura has and visa versa. Help O.O

Hello,

I have both and enjoy them very much. The waved Endura is great but because of the wave feature, sometimes, the blade is deployed when I want a less then "scary" deployment. People that aren't ok with knives get a little freaked out. I've also cut myself kinda bad because of the wave, I didn't want to deploy it but it ended up catching my pocket and I laced my hand. Its a great work blade if you need your blade opened fast but in some instances its not always the best. The Manix2 lightweight is one of my favorite edc blades. I cant think of anything I don't like about it. I do like a little longer blade but the Manix2 is more then enough. If you want the extra length get the Endura with out the wave if you think its going to be an issue. The different locks are a personal preference. I like both and cant say one is any better then the other as long as your not doing anything that a folder isn't meant for.

Have a good one,

Chris

The Waved Endura is in my opinion a very classy blade. A lot of folks think its ugly... but what do a lot of folks know? Lol Honestly I carried one for quite a while and still throw it in my pocket from time to time. The great thing about a waved knife is that it makes weak hand opening super easy. This is typically where I carry this blade. Waved blades have a place because they allow you to make quick cuts. Essentially deploy, cut, and have the blade put away rather fast. This can be very low profile. I found waved blades useful in work where I had one hand occupied and holding something that needed to be cut quickly. All in all the Endura wave is one of my favorite folders. Slim, light, quick, and a good steel. It ranks right up there with my Al Mar as an all time favorite pocket folder.

I voted for the Endura Wave....I love the Endura and the Wave just adds icing to the cake......It is a brilliant design.

That is exactly why I have a big ugly zip tie on my para 2 because sometimes I need a knife and it's just easier if its open as soon as its out of my pocket.
Also I'm not worried about scaring people, most of them around my area don't seem to care to much and I also carry a SAK which is what I use in public anyways.
I was telling myself for the longest time that the next two spydies I buy are gonna be waved endura and delica then I wanted to get a matching orange set. But I was browsing through my BladeHQ wishlist and forgot about the manix 2, I think that's the one I'm gonna get actually.

I voted Manix, not a huge fan of lockbacks... And as someone mentioned earlier, I am on of those who find the endura to be ugly. The translucent blue Manix on the other hand is very handsome...

endura. the thing is tho, the wave works almost too good. if you ever wanna pull the knife out w/out it opening you really have to be paying attention

It's easy to pull out a waved endura without deploying the blade. Just put your index finger on the spine while taking it out.

Oh believe me, the waved endura IS ugly, almost fugly but I still want it. Kinda how I love my '88 F250, ugliest body style they made but I'll be damned if it ever fails me. It keeps on going. Also Like I said the wave working "too good" isn't gonna be a problem cause the only time I use my main blade is when I need it quick or don't give a damn what anyone else thinks at the time. I normally end up using my Swiss army, or another small folder dropped in my pocket. Also I've actually never owned a lockback knife, no I take that back I have a SOG twitch II that's lock back...I don't like it though, its assisted.

I think its settled, my next three knives are going to be Manix 2 lightweight, Endura 4 waved, delica 4 waved. I'll be set on just those three for months if not a year or two. I don't buy knives like I used to. I buy one then use it till I feel a want to buy another and most times I don't buy one.

I have never liked the Endura much and I also don't really like the hollow grind Manix. It would be a hard choice but if I was looking for a waved knife then I would go Endura. Actually that isn't true. If I wanted waved I would go real ugly and get a P'kal.

This manix has a full flat grind. I agree though the hollow they put on them seems like it would be excessivly thick. The pkal just doesnt appeal to me at all nor does the endura i prefer the delica over it but i want the blade length. Anyways I purchased the manix amd its on its way also got a new multi tool and flashlight with it. Gonna see if they are worth theyre weight.

The Para 2 is better than both.... Save up for something you want more.

Of those 2 the Endura takes it for offering something different. The wave is kind of a gimmick though IMHO, sure it works great but it means you have to clip the blade to a pocket or put it in a shallow pocket.

I have a para 2 and wanted to get something to replace it. I wanted something new. My main blade is always clipped to a pocket, not sure what you mean by a shallow pocket though.

why dont you save and buy both at the same time later

Because I only buy one knife at a time, I buy one, use it for so long till I either get bored of it, decide I don't like it or find something I want much more than my current knives. Therefore I went with the manix and I love it so far after the first day of carrying it. I got to use it a lot at work today. I don't normally need a knife at work but today I had plenty uses for it. It came hair popping sharp from spyderco as always too and Still is.

I think you still need an Endura FFG as well.
Mine has given me a great respect for vg-10 stee, and it practically hides in your pocket.

Now thats a hard choice. I have both, love both. The only answer I could come up with was get both lol. I know a big help but get one and later on get the other.
