Want to know what knife...

Hey all -

I have a question I hope someone can answer for me. I had a Buck knife at one time that was (I think) aluminum handled. It was a linerlock, silver in color, had a pretty slim profile, pocket clip and on the handle it had a triangle shaped cut-out. I probably purchased around 2000-2001.

I'd like to get the knife name/model please.

I am going to go with Buck 170 Lightning....

Try searching online, and see if thats what your looking for ;)
 
Haha, that's it. Now that I have a name, I need to find the size and blade combo I had. :)

Not a problem! Glad I could help! I guess it could be a 175 Lightning II also....

There are still a few of those knives floating around! You may have to hit the 'net, but you will find one!

Other than the obvious Ebay, where is a good place to find/buy discontinued knives?

Thanks. It's the best I could come up with on short notice. There's only one offered on Ebay right now that I could find.
 
Yes, I found the one on Ebay, however it has a half-serrated blade. :( Would rather have the full non-serrated blade. I'll keep looking. It was such a good knife. :) Haha!

Thanks Plum-good info as always.Not to be a nudge, but I think Buck has made better lookin knives, but based on the catalog, it looks like thier blades are ats-34 which is pretty cool. :thumbup:
 
I have two Lightning HTAs with aluminum handles. One is a 172 with smooth blade and the other is a 175 with the serrated blade. Both were bought of the bay. Paid $14.95 and $10.01 for them. Pictures will follow.
