What do I have to do in order to sell a knife on the EXCHANGE portion of this forum. What is a GOLD member, other than of course, the movie?

Instead of using little mad faces around your message and acting all pissed off, why don't you look up at the top of the page and click the link that says "Get a Premium, Gold, Dealer or Knifemaker Subscription"?

Doug's right, it's quite easy to get a membership so not only can you sell items here, but you can help support the forums which provide hours of entertainment. :) -- Charles

A server this size with a database this big and a forever full bandwidth doesn't run on air buddy. I haven't even sold a piece and I've got the membership.
Frankly there's very little bad deals going on, and if they're bad, they stick out like a sore thumb over at the GB&U. The deals are quite nice at times.
If you don't want to pay up, no one is preventing you, but you're stuck with trades.

Actually it is really easy to get a Gold Membership, so it is really not a PITA at all. Unless of course you are referring to the fact of it costing $30 as being the PITA. That seems like a cheap price to get your for sale knives in front of such a large group of knife people.

It is a little hard to agree with folks who expect to gain from other peoples resources. Try calling a newspaper or magazine to see if they will offer free classified space; ask ebay if it is OK for you to sell without paying commissions or a listing fee. When BF was small and had less traffic the need to charge for selling was not that strong.

We now have a large community and I do not think paying a fee in order to list knives for sale to a large audience is out of line.
If you only have one knife to sell - ebay is the way to go or you can hang around here make a few friends learn some things and then decide if this place is worth supporting. Even if it turns out that a person does not wish to they will be more than welcome to use some of the resources here and participate. I would be inclined to be thankful that this site is available rather than complaining that the efforts and expenses of another are not available for personal gain.

Gotta give Paratrooper some credit though.

Some people barge right in and post a forsale ad in the general forum with a basic membership.

How come you know who Dennis is? You registered in december 2002, right?

Heck, I just registered a couple months ago, and I know who Dennis Sweetster is. All he had to do was look in the GBU, there is a very recent post about him aka Harpy.

Mike

Dennis Sweetster? Still don't know the guy. Am I supposed to or something?

Is it some kind of requirement, in order to be a member of this fine forum?

Come on guys....fill me in here!

Dennis Sweetser is a guy that appears every few months to rip someone off under a new alias or user name.

Ohhhh....Wow!

Well...I can tell you, THAT IS NOT ME!

I'm just getting into knives, don't have a big collection, and am learning as I go.

I am into guns though....that is MY area of excellence!

Here we go, listen guys everyone new who just registers is not Dennis, or are they?

Why are you lookin' at me?

Are the voices in my head bothering anyone else?

I'm not paranoid, everyone Dennis, your all Dennis Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha...

The voices they tell me buy more knives, except one, I hear it nagging in the back of my brain, it keeps repeating something, I can almost make it out, "yousp end toof uckin muchon thosed amn knives"

That I heard, knives, yes I believe it's a message of some sort, something, something, something, something, something, something, something, knives, I'm sure of it.

Kinda sounds like my wife.

I'll figure it out.
