Hey folks,
A reminder that I'm running a Pass-Around for a modified Opinel #8. If you want to try a great pocket knife for outdoor use for free, you can sign up here:

The #9 is by far my favorite backpacking knife.
I'd be particularly interested in getting some folks from the bushcrafting or fixed-blade only crowd to give this knife a whirl. I'd be very, very interested and happy, frankly, if you can manage to break it. Consider that a challenge if you want. If you're going to baton with it, just leave the lock ring in the unlocked position. And then beat on it.
By way of an update, Peregrin, one of the mods from the Traditional forum has the knife currently. He's posted a few shots of working out in the yard. Of interest to outdoor folks might be how it's handling cutting back brush for him. I would encourage you to ask him how he's finding it. I'll tell you that I've found the Opinel to be the best I've tried in dealing with wood.
Here's a picture of the knife in question.
