hey guys I wanted to try my hand at making some custom stag scales for some of my old knives. do any of you guys have any pointers as to how to get the original scales and bolsters off? both pinned and glued..

I use a dremel and .05 cut off wheels. I just grind off the tops of the pins and use a sharp knife between the scale and liner to pop them off. the pins that hold the scales only often pull out very easily and if they don't I cut them off level to the liner.

I have a tutorial that goes into a lot of detail about all aspects of putting on new scales that will directly relate to what you want to do.

The link to my web page is below my signature line. The link to the tutorial is linked to my web site. It is about 50 pages long in chapters that will walk you through each stage. The tutorial has a bunch of photo's that should help explain.

WOW that is some set up and shows a lot of hard learned experience!;)
being a hot rodder my self i also loved the rear shot of the chevel:D
i used to have a 67 ss imp convt.. miss it ..:(

Thanks guys... :)

I actually have learned a lot more since I wrote the tutorial. I still learn new stuff every week.

I wish I could just do Buck 110's as they are soooooo consistent in their build and workings and they have REALLY thick bolsters that give me a lot to work with when cutting the stone flush to them..........

They are my favorite knife to do.
