I am looking for a knife maker that will make me a functional fixed blade from S30V steel. I would like to use the Ontario TAK 1, Fallkniven F1 and SOG Field Pup as a base designs. I have been browsing the internet but most of the sites so far are exotic looking art pieces or made of lesser steels. I would be greatful for any suggestions of knife makers familier with S30V. Thanks

Look up Phil Wilson, I have an S30V utlity knife from him that is an awesome cutter. Almost every custom maker that works in Stainless will use that steel. I chose Phil because he worked with Crucible during their engineering this steel. His knives just plain cut, I've got a large fillet knife to match.

Good luck.

I'd talk to Tom Krein or Charles May; each of them has a number of small fixed blade designs that could be modified to suit your needs.

I'll second Wins suggestion of Phil Wilson.I have several of his field knives and what i use them for they must cut and hold an edge. You can be assured no matter what CPM steel you choose he'll get the most out of it.

Here is a link to Charles Mays website. His contact info is on there along with some good examples of his work. Charles is a good guy! I have a knife on order with him.

All you are doing is letting the original poster know that you can make him a knife in the style that he is looking for. Finding someone to make hin a knife was the purpose of his original post. A little self promotion is a good thing, as far as I am concerned.

I would second the recommendation for Gene Martin, I have several of his knives in my safe and he is great to work with, definitly "Good People". Steven

Doing work as Pinoy Knives... Met him years ago and finally had him make a knife for me, along the lines you're looking at... He did exactly what I asked of him and I have a wonderful hunter as a result!
