Hello, again.
Did I hit 50 posts yet, maybe? anyway, I'd like to get hold of someone at ebay. All of their Q&A info is prewritten.... They must have an email address somewhere.
The reason is this: I, probabaly like yourself, am sick and tired of going over to the knife area and looking at cheap junk knives!!! What I suggest is to ask them to program a price filter into their site so that I don't have to look at junk!!!
ie, We would be able to screen out any listed items below a set cost (Like if you didn't want to see any items below $20 or $50, you could just punch it in, and poof!!, gone!!) Does that make sense to you? I also figured the more the merrier, so let me ask you:
ARE YOU WITH ME??!!??!!
ARE YOU MICE OR ARE YOU RATS?!?!
=-------Ed (sorry to rant, but I'm really sick of seeing all the junk on there)

well I'm just mad because they are closing all of the balisong auctions for the ones that have more than a 2 inch blade.

sure I can buy rather questionable items on there but not a knife.

They already have that. Click on the search button at top on page. The one between Services and Help. Don't use the box and hit find it. After you hit the search button you can put price in, it has Between $_____ and$_____ and you fill in amounts. That is what you wanted an't it

Use the search feature, you can set it to list by starting/ending dates or highest/lowest price. I use it to search for knives by keywords. If you are looking for "Buck" or Case Peanut", for example, just enter that in your search. I entered in "Busse" the other day and got two hits. I go to the "Total Listings" page and do a search in that area. You can even bookmark the Total listings page.

I believe that if a person researches various web sites, a better price can be found on most popular brands.

I sympathize with your feelings regarding sorting through all the junk on eBay but I don't think a dollar amount filter is the answer. To keep listing fees down, I have seen many quality pieces where the bidding started ridiculously low.

As tbark suggested, a series of key word searches might be your best bet. I haven't done it yet myself but you could save your search terms in a separate file & simply copy & paste them into eBay's search box. For example, the following search would return only products by the 3 specified makers:

(Chavar,Dozier,Nealy)

Please note that there is no space used after the comma when you want to find items that match one key word OR another.

FWIW, about 2 months ago, I made my own suggestion to eBay in an effort to reduce the clutter. At that time, a full 20% of the items in Collectibles: Knives: General were swords. Since that was about 2,500 individual items, I suggested that they might want to establish a separate sword category to make it easier for both sword & non-sword buyers. I received no response to my suggestion.

BTW, I dug around at the time & found that the right address for submitting suggestions was brian@ebay.com . Good luck in getting your suggestions accepted. As for me, there are a few windmills I have to take care of first.
