Hey Everyone. I just got a new knife, and I would like some of the edges of the spine, guard and hilt 'rounded', as they are too sharp for my liking. I would also like it generally 'fine finished'? Has anyone gotten these kinda modifications before and can recommend someone reliable and not too pricey? Thanks in advance...:)

Why not buy yourself a Dremmel Moto-tool and do it yourself?

I thought it might be done with magic knifemaker's mystical tools or somethin', and I am afraid me and powertools don't play well together... But that is a damn good idea that I might just end up doing. I am not a 'manly' man as some would put it, so what exactly am I lookin' for when purhasing a dremmel tool? Tho only criteria I can think of on my own is I want a cordless one, but other than that I don't know nuthin' when it comes to rpm or horsepower, etc.

I wouldn't go cordless.Home Depot has a very nice set for about 80.00.Has anything you will nedd for most stuff and they are not hard to use.If you do get one get a set with the most bits with it as you can find. They are cheap when included with a set but can get pricey if bought by the piece.

Hey dude, if you haven't already gotten a power tool, let me recommend another cheaper method. You can just get a wooden block and some sandpaper. All you'll need is 150 grit to rough it out, and maybe something like 400 grit to finish. That is, unless you're going to round some metal. In that case, either get some files or go slow with the Dremel.

[edited]The corded Dremels[edited] have higher torque, RPM, etc. Even so, the Dremel doesn't have that much torque. Good enough for day-to-day stuff though.

Edited to change cordless to corded. Stupid me.

Nah I haven't got the powertool yet, but yes I am tryin' to round metal... I probably will end up getting a cordless just for portability. Thanks Alphalphapb:)

Might as well just get a rubber band and wrap it around the grinding bit! Battery powered ones are gutless...may be OK for wood but forget about it for metal. I've got a 1 horse power motor hooked up to my grinder and occasionally need more power.

OHHH. That's cool corded dremmel it is then. Thank you everyone!:) I am still open to any knifemakers, etc. that would give their own personal touches as well...

If you insist on someone who will customize your knife, give forumite Vess a shot. He customizes Spydies that look stunning.

Thanks Calyth I just dopped him an email!!:) The dremmel is a must though now... Thanks for a new addiction guys... powertools:rolleyes: :D
