So I tried to perma blue my BK-2 clip point.
It was not as dark as I wanted it so I polished off the bluing.
I then Forced a patina by soaking blade in hot apple cider vinegar for several times.
I then wash off all of the scale with 0000 steel wool.
Was not dark enough for me.
I then hot blued it.
It's as dark as I could get it.
If I get bored with this I think I will have it Cerakoted.
Let me know your thoughts on it or ideas.
Happy Days.

When bluing at home, it's best to apply 5 or 6 times and polish with 0000 steel wool between coatings. On the final coat, hang it, drench with oil and allow it to oil cure for about a week ensuring that it remains wet with oil. I always used WD-40 with good results. The longer it oil cures the deeper the blue will become. I recommend using 44/40 bluing from Brownell's. The metal must be absolutely clean with a water break-free surface. If you are unfamiliar with water break-free, just Google it. I always wash with Dawn dish washing liquid using water as hot as I can stand it and wipe with denatured alcohol always using a new/clean cloth with each cleaning. Heavy duty shop paper towels work well. Always wear gloves so you don't contaminate the metal with oils from your skin. I've never blued a knife this way but have obtained great results on several firearms.

I think it looks pretty darn good the way you have it now. I'd just leave it be. Mojo seemed to have some solid advice if you wanted to give it the good old home try again.

+1 to this. I also have never done a knife, but several firearms with almost the same technique. 44/40 from Brownells and multiple coats...one I think I did about 12 coats before I was happy. Maybe I need to try the week long cure in oil. Also, different steels will react differently, which I believe is why one of them took extra coats to really look good.

Did everything in advice except I only hung it up for 24 hours, used AG russell rust free to oil it during and afterwards I keep it oiled, and used Berchwood Casey perma blue.Great advice though.Thank you.I might even hit it a couple of more times on the bluing.
