I'm looking at getting a Ruckus for general outdoor carry, and to use when I'm in the woods at work, and was wondering if anyone out there could share their opinions of it. I need a larger, robust folder that can handle various climates, and especially can deal with dirt and dust, or at least is fairly easy to clean. I love the look and feel of the Ruckus, but was wondering how well it would fit my other parameters. Thanks in advance.

You will not be disapointed. I got the mini, just for easier carry and I love it. Carry it all the time, city, to work, to the woods. The spine is open, and easy to blow crud out, or a quick rinse will do too. The blade shape and handle design really work perfectly for anything. I did have to use some sandpaper and smooth out the sort of squared edges on the handle, but otherwise it's an excellent folder. I find myself carrying it all the time.

Should be great for you!

While I strongly prefer a fixed blade at this length and for the uses you mentioned, I too sometimes need a folder in similar situations, and for the past year or so, the Rukus has been that folder for me.

If it fits your requirements, get it- I think it is a well made knife. On the other hand, there are many other knives that would probably work as well, and would cost quite a bit less- the Byrd Cara Cara comes to mind...it's all pretty much what you want, and how much a person is willing to pay

Thanks for the input so far folks, please keep it coming. Grampa ( Or Was it Geezer) I realize that a fixed blade would be preferable in many situations, and I have several of them that I usually rotate through EDC carry in my pack. Unfortunately, a lot of the time I'm in brush and vegetation that snags things on a belt, and don't want to be carrying a pack, which is why I want a large folder that I can stow in a pocket. Any other suggestions besides the Ruckus in that size class would also be appreciated. Thanks again for the input so far.

i think the rukus would do what you need. i just bought the mini rukus, and it great. one tough sob

I have used mine no end as an EDC on one walk i was forced to use it for chopping branches to lay over a path (alot)that had become almost impassable because of resent weather had turned it in to a bog, i was so glad i had it and my wife and my daughter. I did switch the pocket clip from palm side to finger side after that, palm was rather raw.

I have several high dollar custom folders, but the Rukus still remains one of my favorite knives. The flat ground blade really takes a razor sharp edge and with it being a simple drop point it is extremely useful for a lot of different tasks. It is also easy to "dress-up" with some of the available handle scales. I have mine dressed in ivory micarta and it looks spectacular! This is one purchase you won't second guess yourself about!!
