I wanted to know if this place would a good place to ask about guns and ammo on here as on this forum. Not interested in an argument just a few questions as I'm not an knowledge about this subject.
If its the wrong place to post please let me know where I should.

which ammo is easier to find in bulk? 5.56 or 7.62/39 and which is cheaper to buy?
If any of you can direct me in the right direction please.

Good or bad opinion about the hi point carbine 9mm??

I also live in CA so I know that makes a huge difference with everything.

thank you in advance.

Either is easy and can be cheap. Google ammo man and look at the prices for bulk ammo. As a side note, anything made by HiPoint is garbage.

No anything made by bi point is not junk the 9mm carbine is accurate and reliable . I put several thousand rounds through a carbine and a compact pistol without a single failure .When I no longer had them I gave a friend my brass from these 2 guns , a 5 gallon bucket full. I have killed groudhogs out to 100 yards with the carbine and out shot many guns that cost 5 to 10 times what a hi point pistol! And before you go to well mine or some one elses gun didn't. ... If a hi point gun does not work they will fix it no questions ask

Thank you guys. Allen thanks for the heads up. I would post the question on there.
Check the ammo site and they got some great prices thanks. I'm looking at the carabin I figured that a 9mm would be just right for home defense. No need to a sniper rifle but more with the idea for home that I can teach anyone to use and shoot. Also wanted something bigger cause I want it.

I'd join Calguns.net which is a great place to find deals and ask questions. If you're looking to shop ammo prices I'd take a look at www.slickguns.com.

I prefer AR platforms in 5.56 or 7.62x51 over the AK platforms. Thas just personal preference though because the AK is a reliable rifle. 7.62x39 ammo is usually cheaper than the 5.56 and 7.62x51

Personally, I'm not really fond of Hi Points for various reasons. I don't like the feel, trigger, and I'd rather buy higher quality guns. Especially if they're going to potentially be used for self defense.

I wouldn't wait too long on the ammo as they passed laws that will require background check to buy ammo, no Internet sales, $9 tax per box, limit of 50 rounds per month, and several other insane laws. Also, remember to vote No on Prop 63. If you have a CCW you will be exempt from the 50 rounds of ammo per month limitation

either are plentiful, and easy to buy, outside of California, that is.
I'd take a road trip..................and keep quiet about it

Steel cased ammo for both rounds can be had for about 20 cents a shot. Brass cased FMJ for both can be obtained for 32-34 cents a shot. Browse around on Ammoseek for an idea on prices: http://ammoseek.com/ To understand the pros and cons of each type, check out the in-depth test on Lucky Gunner: http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/
I would consider both rounds to be extremely cheap and available, as of today. That might change after the election. Good hunting or defensive ammo for both rounds quickly gets very expensive.

.223 ammo is lighter, and higher velocity. 7.62x39 shoots a much heavier bullet, which is better suited to bigger game animals. Accuracy will depend more on the quality of the gun and ammo you buy, and finding the right combination that your particular gun prefers. The same gun may shoot terribly with one kind of ammo but sub MOA with another, even if they're both "good" quality loads.
