Hey guys, as the title says, I’m interested in giving Super Blue blade steel a try. I have read good things about how it performs, plus it develops a patina after a while which is an added bonus. I would like to add that I prefer solid Super Blue blades if possible, the laminated ones just don’t appeal much to me. What are the best options available?

The only production company I'm aware of that's used it is Spyderco and they were only used in their sprint runs. They offered the caly 3 and 3.5 in solid super blue with gray g-10 some years back as well as the ladybug, manbug, dragonfly, delica, endura, stretch with bluish FRN. Those blades were laminated.

The FRN models pop up fairly frequently on the exchange here, the caly models not quite as often.

Owning both superblue and m4, superblue is a lot easier to get a keen edge on, but doesn’t hold a working edge as long. My knife in superblue was exceptionally hard, and marginally chippy under harder use, such as cleaning game or clearing brush. Edge retention is pretty good, it preferred a polished edge to a toothy one in my experience. M4 has more stain resistance compared to superblue, which has essentially none.
