I have a few sheaths that are un-stained light tan natural leather. How do I get that pretty orangish color that I often see around? I have tried mink oil, but that did little to change the color. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Like this?? This is un-dyed with just a top coat finish on it, but it was russett colored skirting to begin with....most places only have bleached out to almost white leather.

This is more of a brown color, but nice. What I have now is a very light tan color. Looking for more of an orange color, but anything would be better than the light tan that I have now. Thanks.

Leave it out on the picnic table on a sunny day....it will sport a sun tan real quick.

Sounds like your looking for the color Saddle Tan?

neatsfoot oil tends to give it a tan color.

I assume you're referring to something like this?

I believe that's saddle tan like others have mentioned. It is a dye and fiebings has the colour.

That's exactly the look I would like. I will check with them. Thanks.l

I believe that's drum dyed (tan) leather from the tannery....Wicket & Craig sells it that way, any thickness you want...but you have to buy a side.

That's pretty close to Wickett & Craig's drum dyed color "Chestnut", and everything Rick (Rayban) said before me applies.

edited to add: many times photos will play some funny tricks with colors and that may be the case with that photo. Ask W&C to send you a sample swatch of the chestnut.

Bradlox I'm really liking that weaved button flap. I've also noticed that when I waterproof leather with Beeswax and mink foot oil mix it darkens up as well. Not quite orange or saddle tan though.
