Ok friends, with the custom shop on hiatus, I have decided that I will break from my cycle of only BRUISER g10 and get into some exotic woods or specialty pieces of wood.
This is where this journey starts, a war boar

As we all know it can't stay black with black canvas.... So I call this stripper I know, Citristrip and we get down on it, so to speak. Do note all the holes drilled into the tang, if I had not put so much effort into getting the special piece of wood I would have just rounded the spine as I love the look.

Now the handle material I have selected is a 8"chunk of teak that is 3"thick because it used to be the deck of the USS NORTH CAROLINA battleship.

After selecting the species and select piece of said species I begin by making copies of the canvas grips from outlining their shape onto the wood. Then I cut it out with a coping saw then sanding the rest.

Then perfecting the new grip fit to the knife itself

Then I finish sand and smooth the task and prep it for tung oil.
Here it is with only one cost of tung oil with grips installed. I will probably end up with around 10 layers of tung oil but the color and richness will deepen with every coat.

I must say that being a wood worker by trade this modification was super easy compared to the g10, I just felt more at home with the material. Here are so more pics...

I made these grips slightly thicker as the stock war boar felt slightly thin in my hand. I will say that the two surprises I got in this mod were the cool lightening holes in the tang and the glorious INFI dimples in every flat piece of metal on the knife. I eventually worked it all of the dimples as I wanted a big finish or better. That's for your time hogs, any questions or comments will be taken below... Now in all seriousness let's drink....
