I don't know if this is the correct forum, but since it has a blade maybe it counts as a non-typical axe. Does anyone know a custom maker that can make a gunstock warclub?
Thanks

You might want to get a hold of Joseph Szilaski. Use your browser for Szilaski Knives. He does some incredible work. Knives or Hawks.

I've checked both sites and contacted both makers for an estimate. I also think I'll look at the Dixie Gun works catalog and see what is the cost of a blank flintlock stock. Maybe I'll just make my own. Something to keep me busy the rest of the winter and spring. Brian C, I just checked out your "toy box", what an inspiration. I've got a few nice custom bowies from Bill Siegle and Craig Camerer and Craig's doing a custom hawk for me this month. How long have you been collecting?

Crazy Crow Trading Post has a kit for a gunstock war club. I cannot vouch for it's quality, but they do have one.

Thanks for your kind words about my toys, Kenneth. I'm glad you like 'em. I've had a couple of Bill Siegle's pieces myself -- he does great work -- but I'm not familiar with Craig Camerer. Please post a pic of the custom hawk that he's doing for you when it's completed.

Concerning how long have I've been collecting, I am more of an accumulator than a collector -- I buy what I like rather than stick to a particular maker, style, or type. I've liked knives since I was a little kid & probably had at least one in my pocket at most times since I was about 10. The Puma Bowie was probably my first really "good" knife & I've had it for about 30 yrs or so.

I think I fit into the category of "accumulator" also. I really like Bowies, but i've been bitten by the 'hawk bug recently. I'll definitly post a pic of the Camerer 'hawk. His knives are beautiful pieces of work. The Hawk's due in about 3 weeks and I'm psyched to see it.

I came across these War Clubs this AM. I strongly suspect that they are wall hanger, not custom or user, quality but they may be worth a look.

I had expressed interest in seeing them so kennethemick e-mailed me a couple of pix of Craig Camerer's work. I am a Bowie as well as a hawk fan & these are too purdy to keep to myself so I thought I'd share.

The small bowie has a 9.5" blade and stag handle. The larger blade is 12" and has an oosic handle. The hawk is satin polished steel.

Here's an up-close look at the spike on that hawk...

Thanks Brian for posting those pics. Craig Camerer does some really good work at better than reasonable prices. The pictures really don't do the finish on the knives justice. There are no blemishes on either the knives or the hawk. The knives, as well as the tomahawk are wicked sharp.
Craig's email address is craiggpf@jvil.com
I highly recommend his work.
Thanks, Kenneth
