Just got finished reading War on the Run: The Epic Story of Robert Rogers and the Conquest of America's First Frontier by John F Ross. Its the story of Robert Rogers and Rogers Rangers.

I cant reccomend this book enough. Its absolutely amazing. There hasnt been a major biography of him untill this book.

Its easy to read, and very entertaining. However at almost 600 pages, its no slouch.

Robert Rogers is hailed as the father of Special Forces, and many of his tactics are still very much relivent.

Heres his Wikepedia......

CHECK IT OUT!!! If you are remotely interested in this stuff, you WILL be entertained, and will learn a few things too.:thumbup:

You can get it online at Amazon used and new for like 3 bucks plus shipping.

Thanks for the great spot! I always carried Roger's Rules for Rangers, very applicable! You DO know the theme song, I trust? They had to teach that, even to the Cav.... :D

Ray also did a video series on that. Not as good as the book, but still great to watch:

Excellent!

I've always been disturbed at the lack of a good biography of him. One of my favorite historical figures.

Wow, I lucked out.
I checked on Sunday and they had it on special for $12, and said there was only one left. I jumped on it.

Now they're back to $20.

I wasnt there back in history so I cant verify that its all 100% fact, but it goes pretty close with what I have read of him in the past, and the book sites a ton of historical material.
