Thought some of you would enjoy gazing at a few knives from an earlier time.

First up, a spearpoint, ebony and ivory scales:

Next, images of the consummate ebonywood English Bowie, engraved by Buster:

Now, a new image from Coop - a triple hollow ground elephant ivory Scimitar:

Followed by a very early little sheath dagger, swirl elephant ivory handle:

And, finally, an elephant ivory coffin-handled Bowie engraved by Julie, with gold surrounds on every panel and wonderful beveled handle edges. Just HATE that little crack at the pin, sob, sob:

Hope you all enjoy all of this Warenski ebony and ivory!

Here's one I probably should include, though there is no outstanding Coop image, but it is a really lovely hunter that Buster made in 1998. The images on this one present the hunter pretty well.

Bob,

Those are some super knives! My favorites are the English Bowie and the Ivory Coffin Handle Bowie, but they are all great.

Thanks for sharing the images.

Buster was not only an inspiration to me, but also set a standard of craftsmanship that I am still aiming for. Buster was one of the judges I had to present my work to when I joined the Knifemakers Guild. His advise and encouragement have guided me and is still a great influence in my work to this day. He and his contributions to the custom knife world should never be forgotten. Even these relatively "simple" knives illustrate the imaculate cratsmanship and fine sense of design.

Every one of those knives shows the immense artistic talent that Buster Warenski had. I'm particularly fond of the scimitar.

Thanks Bob! Great end to a fine weekend- Buster Warenski is my hands down all time favourite maker of knives ever:).
You da man:thumbup:!

Thanks, Bob, for this opportunity. I was privileged to display these.

Buster is reknowned by all. I have never, ever, heard a negative about him. All other icons have their detractors. Somehow he escaped...

Guys, allow me to point out the Scimitar:

The blade stock is easily 3/8". The mass of material that was removed and still in the body of the blade is not captured at all in my image. This knife will drop like a guillotine on detractors. ;) It's massive.

I am glad for you, Bob. Smart purchases and gratifying.

Coop

Coop, you really captured the beauty of that Scimitar. Outstanding pic and Outstanding piece of art.

WOW...exceptional knives ALL of them, but I too am partial to the English Bowie, but the scimitar is an incredible knife.

Buster Warenski is my all time favorite too! and Julie is one of my all time favorite engravers.

You are a VERY lucky man Bob.

Thanks for the show,
Peter

Thanks for all the comments. The Buster-engraved Bowie would be at the top of the heap value-wise, but it is by no means my favorite. I love the ivory Bowie, it's really elegant - but it has that old crack (probably should move it out). Of these Warenskis, it's the Scimitar that amazes me. The amount of work in that piece, Coop is right on, it's one monumental sucker.

More to come, eventually.

i was feeling a bit underwhelmed until the scimitar. wow what an impressive knife. thanks for sharing

Great bunch of knives but the Scimitar is my favorite by far. As I stated earlier in the original thread on this one..I'm so pleased that it isn't engraved. The lines come out beautifully this way with no distraction what so ever.

while all of them looks amazing nice, and I personaly prefer the secornd best. Those knives and photos are of great value, thanks for sharing with us.
and in my country China, Mr. Warenski is well known.

Marcel, I am in complete agreement about engraving, which to my eye would really ruin this great piece. Yes, it's all about the lines. Engraving would destroy that.

Those are all amazing knives. The one that REALLY catches my eye, much to MY surprise, is that Scimitar!! WOW!
