Warm-up streches

Spent the last few months working on the no spin Thorn Style technique with great results. I am an older guy and after a day of construction work was very worn out but could not resist showing off with some throws. Impressively stuck several in a row and then quit while I was ahead, but really quit because of spraining some muscle to the right side of my back. Three days later I am ok, but wonder if there is some warm-up or stretching techniques that could be used to head this kinda thing off in the future?
