Warming Up to the Boys Knife a Little

When I first got my #15 I was a little underwhelmed.

The knife was smaller than I typically carry, and just didn't grab me like the Eureka Jack that came in the same box.

Some of the guys here rave about how it disappears in their pocket...that was a little disconcerting to me.

I am used to being able to feel the knife in my pocket, and carrying it I kept feeling to make sure it was there.

I thought I might swap it off until my son fell in love with it. So I started putting an edge on it and...wow.

That thin blade with its high, flat grind took to the Norton Fine India and got scalpel sharp.

It is a keen little slicer.

I am starting to warm up to it a little. :)

yeah baby!.... I recently received one .... and truth be told....it quite a nice knife. Light, great clip, and on mine...great ebony...just a shot..............having said that, I confess to having a Eureka coming in soon....but the #15 is a keeper!

Despite all the hoopla surrounding the #15 boys knife, it is what it is, a simple small-mid sized edc. I love all of my boys knives, but for real work, I grab a 72LB or a 73. They are not the best working knife, and not the best looking. If I want a stunner, I turn to the 85 EO stag or buffalo horn or a Northfield 68 maybe... But the price is right and they are good little knives, it is my most owned pattern (5 now!). I love the 15, but it is not my end all. Good to hear its finding it's place in your rotation...

a few of my boys...

Absolutely love this knife

I Love mine!
I sold or traded a 2 blade spear, single blade spear & a 2 blade Charlow I like this one so much.

I like the carry ability of the Pony Jack & Pemberton also, but the blade length & slimness of the single clip Boys Knife gets it a ride in my pocket more often than not.

I have never been obsessed with the pattern, but its been on my radar periphery. I like the idea of it being so small, I have the consistent illusion from internet pics that knives are always larger (e.g. my intuitive idea of the size of the #15 is that it is the size of an opinel 8, when realistically it is closer to a an opinel 6), and its always nice to see how small and compact the knives are when I finally get to see them in the flesh.

"It doesn't have to be big, just sharp."

I've got the EO Boys Knife in red jigged bone and like it a lot. It's a single Sheepfoot and very slim. It's not a heavy-duty knife (it does look bigger in pics I agree!), but it's up to any reasonable pocket knife task for sure.

I think the 15 is my favorite pattern in the whole lineup. Sized right, simple, elegant. So I am glad you are warming to it. :)

Just got this one from Derrick today!

Cant wait to start using it! Got another from a member here on the way with ebony scales!
