Warn Mini-Barrage Question?

Per the BM web site the Warn Mini Barrage 587-1 has a .110" thick blade. Using a digital calipers I have measured mine as being .100", the same thickness as my other Mini-Barrage knives. Have there been two versions or is the BM web site info a typo? If a typo it is not the first I have noted there.

The full size Warn Barrage 583-1 also lists a thicker blade per the BM web site than the other knives in the series, .134" versus .120". Be interesting to see if that is correct or a typo.

Interesting... just curious, what kind of calipers or micrometer are you using? Cheaper ones can sometimes come uncalibrated, and may be causing the .010" difference. I've measured a few of my blades of various mfg. and they were all in spec, but I havnt done any barrage series.

Using a properly zeroed Mitutoyo digital caliper and measuring three Mini Barrages in succession, the Warn and two others. All blades read the same thickness within .001" and the two non-Warn ones match the blade thickness listed for them on the BM web site, .100".

BTW I am a hobbyist machinist and DO know how to use a caliper, dial or digital.

Thats odd, probably a type-o. I wasn't saying you don't know how to read calipers, just eliminating possible errors. I am a metal fabricator, so I do machining as well. Along with welding and sheet metal.

The published specs on the Warn 583-1 (basically Barrage w/ G10) says it's .134"-- that is also wrong, mine mikes .121".

I'm sure you are correct, it's a typo. Funny thing is the typo leaves Benchmade-- and e'body reports the same (wrong) blade thicknesses.

ryxlyx;

Agreed. I had a Warn 583-1 arrive today and I measure the same actual blade thickness as you do. At least one web vendor I have noted states that his posted information is per Benchmade. Other obvious Benchmade specification typos I have noted are folding knife overall length not being the same as blade length plus closed length. For most BM folding knives the figures agree but in a few cases I spotted they do not.

Too bad as I can see in the future some collectors claiming knives are counterfeits due to their not matching the erroneous Benchmade published specifications.
